Brit Before VMAs: "I Want to Go Back to My Kids"

Britney Spears has admitted she wasn't ready for her now infamous "comeback" performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.
The day before the show, the pop star, 25, confided in music producer Dallas Austin.
"She said, 'Hey, I do not think I am ready for my show tomorrow, and I want to go back to where my kids are,'" Austin revealed to usmagazine.com last night at the Heatherette show during L.A. Fashion Week.
Despite her faltering public image (she was booked last night in L.A. for hit and run), "She is very sane when she talks, believe it or not," Austin said. "She is natural and knows what is going on."
Spears, he added, is upset. "[She's] basically, a person who has made so many people happy [and] she is mad that she is not making them happy anymore."
Austin — who denied any romantic fling with her, despite close hang-out sessions during the VMAs – advises her label Jive to hold off on her album, which was pushed up two weeks for an October 30 release.
"Everything is too much of a rush for her," he said. "She needs another four, five or six months. I think that like any mom, she needs time to get herself together."
